President William Ruto on Saturday denied responsibility for high fuel prices in Kenya, stating that it is beyond his control.
He also refused to take credit for the recent reduction in fuel costs.
“Do not credit me for the reduction in fuel costs, I have done nothing,” President Ruto stated.
Ruto claimed that the prices are determined by oil companies, not by him.
“Leadership in Kenya lacks truthfulness, we must stop lying.Don’t clap for me, your clapping won’t help ,”Ruto added.
He acknowledged that the government plays a role in fuel pricing through taxes and levies.
Ruto criticized leaders who claim credit for things they haven’t done and urges honesty in leadership.

He emphasized the need for each leader to fulfill their responsibilities.
“Responsibilities are clear for each leader, we must deliver on our work,”Ruto noted.
Ruto made these remarks during a speech in Kisii before attending a fundraiser for Kisii Catholic Diocese.
