Lee Redmond, a Guinness World Records , pass away

Lee Redmond, a Guinness World Records Hall of Fame member, passed away on December 14 in Utah, USA.

According to Guinness world record,Lee gained international fame in 2003 when she revealed her incredibly long fingernails-

which she had been growing since 1979.

Her nails measured a total length of 7.51 meters (24 feet 7.8 inches),which  earned her the record for the longest fingernails on a pair of hands.

Through  care and regular manicures, Lee’s nails continued to grow, reaching a length of 8.65 meters (28 feet 4.5 inches) in 2008, making them the longest ever recorded.

Her Competitor

However, in 2022, Diana Armstrong from the USA broke Lee’s record.

Lee made a personal decision to stop filing and cutting her nails as a challenge to herself.

She wanted to see how long they could grow before they started twisting out of shape, unlike other famous long fingernails.

Maintenance

Despite their extreme length, Lee’s nails were well-maintained and took on a beautiful arch shape.

She dedicated daily care to her nails, using warm olive oil, a toothbrush for cleaning, and applying nail hardener.

Lee even painted her nails in her signature gold color.

Surprisingly, her nails could  not hinder her daily activities.

She could perform tasks like washing dishes, using her mobile phone, cutting her children’s hair, and driving a car.

Transformation

In 2006, Lee considered cutting her nails after her husband, Donald, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

However, she realized that her nails did not prevent her from providing the care he needed and decided against it.

Accident

Lee’s nails brought her international fame, but tragically, she lost them in a car accident in 2009.

She described the moment as she heard her nails snapped and then thrown out of the vehicle, losing consciousness.

” I had fingernail snapping and I remember nothing after the feeling of being sucked out of the vehicle,”Lee says.

Witnesses recalled seeing Lee being thrown 25 feet through the air before landing on the road.

She acknowledged that losing her nails was like losing a part of her identity, but she accepted it as a consequence of the accident.

“We are all unique.Everyone of us.We all have some unique talents.I am always saying ,you know don’t judge me by my fingernails,”lee states.

Morever,Lee’s distinctive appearance, with her white hair and golden nails, made her an icon and an integral part of the visual identity of Guinness World Records.

Lee had utilized her record-breaking status   and delivered motivational speeches, particularly focusing on self-esteem and embracing uniqueness.

Don’t Judge

She emphasized the importance of not judging someone solely based on their physical appearance.

Lee believed that everyone possessed unique talents and encouraged others to have self-esteem.

Lee has survived by her children, Dony, Mindy, and Roby, as well as her 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She also leaved behind six siblings. Her funeral is scheduled to take place in Utah on December 21.

Lee’s legacy as an Officially Amazing individual will forever be remembered.
