Cabinet Secretary for Education ,Ezekiel Machogu has today said that ECD,Primary and Secondary School to open on January 8th 2024.
According to Machogu,he stated that form one students will report to their new institutions on January 15.
“All field officers of the Ministry of Education have been advised to report to their duty stations on all working days.
This will assist parents with necessary preparations regarding the 2024 calendar,”CS stated.
However, Machogu urges the parents and guardians to exercise the necessary responsibility for their children during this holiday.
“Particularly,parents must take cautions on their children against the dangers of drug and substance abuse.”
“Parents and quardians should embark on the task of preparing learners to ensure they are ready for the 2024 calendar,” CS said in a statement.
The ministry on Friday announced a raft of changes in the CBC following recommendations from –
the presidential Working party on Education reforms.
Thus,the lower primary were decreased from 9 to 7 then the upper Primary will have 8 learning areas from 10.
The Junior secondary will take 9 subjects as opposed to the previous 14.
Morever,the new structure will have no optional learning area for JSS with the total lessons per week decreased from 45 to 41.
The ministry has put in place the plan to adhere to the new structure this coming January.
