Opinion Polls Reveals Voters Opinion of 2022 Kenyan Election

A recent Infotrak opinion poll conducted in Kenya has shed light on the voter preferences leading up to the highly anticipated 2022 elections.

The poll, conducted using Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI), aimed to gather information about voter opinions in different regions of Kenya.

The survey, with a target sample size of 9000 respondents, achieved an impressive response rate of 96 per cent.

However,the survey covered 47 counties in nine sub-regions of Kenya,

ensuring a comprehensive representation of voter sentiments across the country.

Therefore,to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data, the survey sample was proportionately allocated across the counties.

Method used

Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 26 statistical software,

and a margin of error of 3.3 per cent with a 95 per cent degree of confidence was applied.

Additionally,to correct for any discrepancies, demographic post-stratification weights were applied to the dataset.

The voter statistics were based on a population of 22.2 million, providing a robust understanding of the electorate’s preferences.

Thus,the results of the poll revealed interesting insights into the popularity of presidential candidates in different regions of Kenya.

Raila Odinga and William Ruto emerged as prominent contenders, with varying levels of support across the country.

Region survey

The coastal region, northern Kenya, Mt. Kenya, lower eastern, south rift, Nyanza, North Rift, Nairobi,

and western regions all played a significant role in shaping the candidates’ popularity.

The survey highlighted the gains and losses for each candidate in these regions, providing valuable insights into their campaign strategies.

Furthermore, the poll delved into the gender breakdown of voter preferences.

Raila Odinga and William Ruto enjoyed support from both male and female voters-

with percentages of 62 per cent and 38 per cent respectively.

However,the survey also examined the change in popularity from May to December, providing an understanding of the evolving dynamics of the political landscape in Kenya.

Consequently,these findings serve as a crucial resource for political analysts, campaign strategists, and voters alike.

As the 2022 elections approach, candidates will be able to tailor their campaigns based on the trends and preferences revealed.
