Nairobi Governor, Sakaja Johnson, has shown his unwavering commitment to supporting academically promising but financially needy students in the city.
In a heartwarming gesture
Governor Sakaja recently sponsored several bright students to join secondary schools, ensuring that their dreams of a better future are not hindered by financial constraints.
One such student is Faith Mutheu, who scored an impressive 350 marks in her KCPE exams.
Despite her achievement, Faith’s dream of attending Karatina Girls’ High School was fading fast as her parents struggled to raise the necessary school fees.
Determined to find help
Faith took matters into her own hands and wrote her story on a blue manila paper, pleading for assistance.
Moved by Faith’s plea, Governor Sakaja invited her to his office and awarded her an executive scholarship.
But his generosity didn’t end there.
Faith is just one of the ten students who have received full first-term shopping from the Sakaja Centre.
This shopping includes school uniforms, books, stationery, beddings, and other essential items.
Governor Sakaja’s dedication to supporting underprivileged students goes beyond individual cases.
He recently sacrificed two months’ worth of his own salary to sponsor several bright but needy children in Nairobi.
Not only did he cover their school fees for the entire year, but he also provided them with school uniforms-
and personal belongings such as metallic boxes and books.
Explaining his motivation behind this initiative
Governor Sakaja emphasized the importance of ensuring that no child is disadvantaged due to their family background.
He believes that investing in these bright students is an investment in the future of all students across the city.
In addition to his scholarship program, Governor Sakaja’s school feeding program, known as “Dishi na County,” provides children with a nutritious meal every lunchtime-
giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Governor Sakaja’s commitment to supporting academically promising but financially needy students is truly commendable.
His actions not only uplift the lives of individual students but also contribute to creating a more equitable education system in Nairobi.
It is through such initiatives that the dreams of many underprivileged children can be realized-
allowing them to fulfill their potential and make a positive impact on society.
