The Garissa Water and Sewage Company (GAWASCO) has made a shocking discovery.
Dolal Mohamed, the Managing Director, has been arrested by the Commission for forging his KCSE Certificate. He wanted to gain qualifications for university admission.
Investigations have revealed that Mohamed scored Grade D (Plain) in his 1998 KCSE Exams.
However, he created a fake KCSE Certificate, awarding himself Grade C+ (Plus).
Using this forged certificate, he pursued a Diploma in Public Relations and a Certificate in Purchasing and Supplies at the University of Nairobi.
He then went on to study a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies at Mt. Kenya University.
The arrest took place in Mohamed’s office, and he was promptly taken to Garissa Police Station.
He will be arraigned before the Garissa Anti-Corruption Court on Friday, 26 January 2024 at 9:00am.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) agreed with the recommendations of the EACC to charge Mohamed with fraudulent acquisition of public property.
This includes the Kes. 12,987,290 salary he earned over the years.
He will also face charges for forgery of academic certificates and uttering a false document.
Apart from criminal prosecution, the Commission aims to recover all the salaries and benefits Mohamed received since 2015.
Mohamed Dolal began his career at GAWASCO in 2007 as a Billing Clerk.
He steadily climbed the ranks to become the Agency’s Managing Director.
