Government Committed to Digitization to Combat Corruption, Says President Ruto
President William Ruto has emphasized the government’s determination to prevent corruption cartels from hindering the digitization of government services.
He stated that the transition to a digital payment system is crucial in curbing corruption and the misappropriation of government resources.
President Ruto highlighted the success of reducing over 3000 pay bills in the government to just one-
which has facilitated better revenue monitoring and eliminated theft.
President William Ruto further explained that the new policy requiring school fees to be paid through the government’s digital platform,
E-citizen, will eradicate illegal levies imposed by certain schools.
During a meeting with Kenyans living in Japan, President Ruto emphasized the importance of technology in eliminating corruption,
stating that the current cash payment system is prone to corruption.
He also mentioned that Kenyans in the diaspora can now conduct government transactions through E-citizen.
President William Ruto also acknowledged the significant demand for Kenyan skills abroad,
stating that the government is creating opportunities for skilled youth both locally and internationally.
He expressed pride in the positive feedback received from companies that have hired Kenyans,
affirming the premium quality of the Kenyan workforce.
President Ruto further revealed that the government is focused on enhancing diaspora services-
to maximize their contribution to the country’s economic growth.
To achieve this, mobile consular services will be established to ensure easy and efficient access to services for Kenyans living abroad.
