Tufuzu na Elimu Scholarships Propel Students to Excellence

The Family Group Foundation Tufuzu na Elimu High School Scholarships Programme has achieved remarkable success, with 44 beneficiaries attaining a mean grade of C+ and above in the 2023 KCSE examinations.

This achievement signifies an 83 per cent transition to tertiary education, meeting the university entry grade requirements.

Out of the 53 students who sat for the KCSE examinations, the top student obtained a remarkable mean grade of A.

Additionally, nine students achieved A-, while 34 students attained grades ranging from B+ to C+.

These students were part of the 2020 4-year scholarship cohort and were carefully selected from 31 counties across the country.

Expressing his delight, John Waimiri, the Executive Director of The Family Group Foundation,

emphasized the importance of quality education as a tool for opening doors of opportunity and economic empowerment.

He congratulated the students for their resilience and commitment to excellence, recognizing them as the future generation of change makers.

“As a Foundation, we firmly believe that every child must have access to quality education. This is a tool they can use to open doors of opportunities and economically empower themselves. Congratulations to these students as they have shown great resilience and commitment to excel in their examinations.”

Before their admission into tertiary education, the students will go through the Foundation’s post high school pathways,

which connect them to existing opportunities through strategic partners such as HELB, business coaching and mentorship,

and career progression opportunities like internships and work placements through Family Bank.

The Tufuzu na Elimu programme, which supports bright but needy students from 34 counties, has made a significant impact.

It covers tuition, uniforms, accommodation, and upkeep for the beneficiaries.

The students also receive valuable soft-skills training through annual Mentorship Workshops and Academic Boot Camps.

Family Bank, through the Family Group Foundation, allocated sh 90 million for this year’s scholarship, benefiting 352 students from 34 counties and 66 constituencies.

Since its inception, the programme has invested over sh 300 million in the education sector,

positively impacting over 1,200 beneficiaries nationwide.

The success of the Tufuzu na Elimu programme demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities for all children.

By investing in their education and holistic development, the Foundation is empowering these students to become future leaders and contributors to society.
