Anti-corruption court jails two DCI officers for extorting money

The Anti-Corruption Court sitting in Milimani jailed two DCI officers who shot at EACC detectives in a mission to arrest the Kabete-based officers.

According to EACC, the two officers were attempting extort Kes. 1 Million from a Japanese national they had accused of being in the country without proper documentation.

Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki found Cpl. Julius Onyango Oguma and PC Charles Macharia Wanjiru guilty of receiving a bribe, concealing evidence, and obstructing EACC officers on lawful duty.

On Wednesday, the Court sentenced Corporal Julius Onyango Oguma to pay a fine of Kes.1,900, 000/- or in default serve 5 years in jail.

Charles Macharia Wanjiru was fined Kes. 400, 000/- or serve 1 year in prison.
