DCI arrests the Reknown land fraudster

Directorate of Criminal investigation(DCI) detectives yesterday apprehended a Renowned land fraudster, Jackson Mwangi Wambui for a bribery attempt.

Mwangi and his accomplice, Macharia, were arrested for attempting to influence an investigating officer to slow down a land grabbing case.

They sought a two-month delay to obtain fake documents for a 0.2026-hectare land parcel in Thome V area.

However, without their consent, they have been on the radar of the Land Fraud Investigations Unit for years.

They had previously been thrown out of the land in question after erecting a perimeter wall.

Detectives discovered that the land belonged to a deceased Kenyan, and his family was being threatened by Jackson’s ring.

The suspects vanished but later requested a meeting with the investigating officer at the DCI headquarters.

They offered a bribe of Sh200,000 to halt the investigation process.

However, their meeting was recorded by cameras in the office, and they were swiftly arrested by DCI Operations detectives.

“In the daring bribery attempt to the country’s highest criminal investigations agency, all Jackson Mwangi sought from the investigator was a two-month delay in the ongoing investigations, within which he would have obtained a “fake original” documentation of the land,”DCI said.

The case file has been forwarded to the ODPP in Kiambu, and the suspects have been granted Sh200,000 cash bail.

Preliminary analysis by the DCI reveals multiple cases of land fraud involving Jackson’s cartel, including impersonating a police officer.

The syndicate has also been featured in land grabbing documentaries, causing distress among those who purchased the affected land parcels.
