Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Monday released the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results today.
Machogu will unveil the results in Eldoret after briefing President William Ruto.
This year’s KCSE exams took place from October 23 to November 24, with 903,260 candidates participating.
The delay in releasing the results, a departure from previous years, was due to extensive verification following issues with the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
Machogu assured the public that the delay was necessary to ensure the credibility of the results.
He also announced a new grading system aimed at allowing students to focus on their strongest subjects.
Under the new system, candidates will be graded in two compulsory subjects: Math and a language.
The change is expected to increase the number of students qualifying for university entry.
The marking centers were increased from 35 to 40 to improve working conditions.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers requested more time for examiners to analyze the results thoroughly.
They emphasized the importance of avoiding errors, as seen in the rushed release of the KCPE results.
Machogu assured the public that the results would be credible and that the marking process had been completed.
