Five Arrested in Isiolo County Corruption Scandal

The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested five suspects in connection with graft at the Isiolo County government.

According to the EACC,the arrests took place early Wednesday morning-

where the suspects were detained at the Isiolo EACC offices for processing.

Therefore ,the commission is targeting a total of thirteen suspects involved in corruption offences related to a 58,560,000 shillings procurement fraud.

Among those arrested are former Chief Officer Finance Peter Ngechu Muhuha, former Chief Officer Public Works, Housing & Urban Development Adano Salad Kadubo,

former head of Treasury Abdinassir Ali, and accountants Jibril Hassan and Augustine Kariuki Gatebu.

Additionally,the alleged offence revolves around a tender for the supply and delivery of a fire engine,

which was corruptly awarded to Drescoll Limited in the Financial Year 2018/2019.

EACC investigations revealed a flawed procurement process designed to fraudulently award the tender to Drescoll Limited.

Drescoll Limited is also under investigation in a related case involving a 62,000,000 shillings tender for the supply and delivery of a fire engine at the Marsabit County Government.

The arrested suspects were processed at the EACC Isiolo regional offices and later transferred to Isiolo Central Police Station.

They are expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow on charges related to theft of public funds.

Adano Salad Kadubo, one of the suspects, was processed at the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station.

EACC Director of Legal Services David Too stated that eight other suspects, who are currently at large,

have been directed to report to the EACC Isiolo regional office or the nearest EACC office immediately.

However,the individuals on the EACC radar include Yusuf Mohammed Galgalo, former Chief Officer Finance, Qanchora Roba,

Former Chief Finance Officer, Dr. Salad Kikuyu Sarite, former Head of Supply Chain Management, Linus Gichunge Thuranira,

Additionally,former Isiolo County legal advisor, John Thuranira Nkuraru, a Supply Chain Management Assistant, Ali Godana Wako, former town administrator,

Kennedy Macharia Murimi, a transport officer, and Bashir Hassan Abey Mamo, the Director of Drescoll Limited.

The EACC’s efforts to combat corruption in Isiolo County are ongoing, and more arrests are expected as investigations continue.
