Government is set to rescue flood- prone Communities

Communities and families that are prone to floods in different parts of the country are set to receive urgent assistant form the government in collaboration with Kenya red cross.

According to the kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) on 30th August this year released a weather forecast predicting heavy rains between October to December.

Among the areas affected include the lake Victoria Basin,Highlands west of the Rist valley and Central ,South Rift.

Other places include North western counties such as Turkana and Samburu.

The highlands East of the Rift Valley Counties that include Nairobi areas among other places.

The north East counties include Mombasa,Tana River,Kilifi,Lamu and Kwale.

Therefore the government has activated the disaster response and security teams to identify locations that are likely to be prone to floods.

Teams from the Kenya Wildlife service are also alert to rescue people in the flood- affected counties.

Also the government through the ministry of interior says that security personnel are likewise warning communities living In Flood prone areas to move to higher grounds.

“The state of key roads and bridges that are critical transport and Communication nodes in flood- prone counties are also being monitored and updates issued on their usability,”read the statement from interior ministry.
