•Head Suspected to Be That of Late Rita Waeni Found in Kiambaa Dam
A post-mortem exercise scheduled for Tuesday at Nairobi’s City Mortuary on a human head believed to be that of the late Rita Waeni has been put on hold.
The head was discovered in Kiambaa Dam in Kiambu County on Sunday.
The case has been under the Kasarani DCIO since Waeni’s mutilated body was found in a garbage bin of a residential apartment in Roysambu, Nairobi, on January 14.
Meanwhile, the homicide team of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken over the matter and will conduct a forensic analysis of the recovered head.
Two Nigerian nationals, who were arrested in connection with Waeni’s murder, were arraigned on Monday after being apprehended in a rented flat in Ndenderu, Kiambu County.
During the arrest, Kasarani DCI officers discovered a hatchet, a butcher’s knife, six mobile phones, an assortment of SIM cards.
Among other things were three laptop computers, and a Kenyan identity card in the possession of the suspects.
Police investigations have revealed that the two individuals were in Kenya illegally.
Consequently, the family of the 20-year-old JKUAT student has disclosed that at 5 am on the Sunday-
when Waeni’s body parts were discovered, her father received a message from her phone number.
The message demanded a ransom of Ksh. 500,000 within 24 hours for the safe release of their daughter.
The ongoing investigation into this heinous crime aims to uncover the truth behind the murder of Rita Waeni and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The involvement of the DCI’s forensic analysis team signifies the determination to gather crucial evidence and build a strong case.
However, the illegal status of the arrested suspects further emphasizes the importance of addressing immigration issues to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The family and friends of Rita Waeni are left devastated by this horrific incident, and they seek solace in the hope that justice will be served.
The investigation continues, and the authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in the pursuit of truth and closure.
