A 39-year – old Community health officer was on Friday charged for allegedly practicing as medical doctor without the requisite licence in a Taita law court.
Wellinton Amusini was arrested on January 10,at Kitogoto village in Taita taveta Sub- county.
Therefore, the court heard that the accused person was arrested at Shalom Medical Centre,
where the alleged imposter was attending to approximately 11 patients.
However,one patient was reportedly admitted to the facility for eye treatment at the time of the Arrest.
In addition to the charge of operating as a medical practitioner without valid licence,the suspect is facing two more charges.
This included personation of medical doctor and operating a medical facility without the necessary authorization.
Prosecution council Idris Tomno did not object the court to impose a stringent term,
emphasizing the gravity of the charges leveled against the accused.
