Nation Media Group is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their Finance department.
Responsibility;
The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing and paying invoices from local and foreign suppliers.
Preparing treasury reports, and ensuring timely payment of taxes.
The Assistant Accountant will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of the Finance department.
They will be responsible for processing and paying invoices from both local and foreign suppliers.
Ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial transactions.
Vendor accounts and general ledger reconciliations will be a key focus, ensuring that the financial records are up-to-date and accurate.
The Assistant Accountant will also be involved in the preparation of audit schedules and the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations.
Attention to detail and adherence to established financial controls will be essential in maintaining the integrity of the financial records.
One of the key responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant will be the timely preparation, payment, and filing of various NMG taxes.
This includes VAT, withholding tax, corporation tax, and installment taxes.
The Assistant Accountant will work closely with the tax authorities to ensure compliance and timely payment of these taxes.
Additionally, the Assistant Accountant will be involved in monitoring daily cash flows, negotiating forex contracts, and preparing treasury reports.
They will have the opportunity to analyze investment reports, compute and accrue interest income, and confirm the accuracy of fund manager monthly statements.
This role also involves managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements;
The ideal candidate for this position will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
They will have CPA (K) or ACCA certification, demonstrating their knowledge and expertise in accounting principles.
Two years of experience in a busy and fast-paced environment will be advantageous, along with hands-on experience with an accounting system.
Knowledge of SAP or Naviga system will be an added advantage.
Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must for this role, as the Assistant Accountant will be required to interact with various stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team will contribute to their success in this position.
Analytical skills will be essential in analyzing financial data and making informed decisions.
