A police officer stationed at Kasarani Stadium Police Station has been arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for extortion.
The officer, identified as Paul Kamau Mbugua, allegedly demanded a sum of Kes. 30,000-
from a complainant in exchange for the release of two brothers who were arrested and detained at the Police Station.
The complainant reported the incident to the EACC on Friday, prompting the commission to launch an investigation.
After receiving the demanded amount, the EACC detectives arrested Officer Paul Kamau Mbugua and escorted him to Kilimani Police Station.
However,he is currently being held there pending further processing at the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station.
During the arrest, a minor scuffle broke out when Officer Paul Kamau Mbugua began wailing uncontrollably upon being informed of his arrest.
Despite his attempts to resist arrest, the EACC detectives successfully apprehended him.
Consequently,as part of the investigation, detectives seized Officer Kamau’s Taurus Revolver Pistol with serial number Q130360, along with the ammunition.
However,these items were later handed over to the Officer in Charge of the EACC Police Station.
