Accompanied by the Ambassador of The People’s Republic of Algeria to Kenya H.E Mahi Boumediene, the fertilizer was received at the grain Bulk Handling LTD facilities, port of Mombasa, by the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi.

The CS termed the delivery as “Timely” stressing that it will be a key booster to inclining the agricultural production in the country and providing farmers with affordable inputs for their crops.

“I was delighted today to join the Algerian envoy to Kenya, H.E Mahi Boumediene, during the reception of fertilizer donated by Algeria at the Grain Bulk Handling Ltd Facilities, Port of Mombasa,” the CS stated on X.

“The fertilizer consignment from Algeria will greatly supplement our efforts in increasing agricultural production, and productivity through affordable inputs to farmers as we strive to reduce food prices,” he added.

The CS has however pinpointed that Kenya needs 900,000 more Metric tons of fertilizer to propel adequate food production in the country.

Earlier this month President William Ruto stated that Kenya is expecting three million bags of fertilizers.
