Kikuyu member of Parliament Kimani Ichungw’a accuses deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of blackmail on what he terms as self interest on the push for mount Kenya unity.
Speaking yesterday (Sunday) during a church service in Meru,he insisted on opposing DP asking him to show respect to others leaders who are under him.
“We have a problem ;we are not saying we unite for the sake of mount Kenya people when we are,but we are being told everyone, including elected leaders ,to follow one person to be taken where he wants. As a leader,I will not keep quit while those leaders are being mistreated,”Ichungw’a said.
However,Ichungw’a called on elected leaders to oppose misleading politics and instead spread national unity.
Controversy erupts as he directly attacks DP Rigathi Gachagua accusing him of intimidating mount Kenya MPs so that they can go his way.
He however, said he won’t be intimidated but will stand on behalf of his colleagues whom he says are being threaten not to speak out.
Ichungw’a alleges that DP is hiding behind the community and trying to blackmail the president for his personal interests.
Additionally,Kikuyu MP said that allocation of revenue should follow constitutional channels asking DP to do as directed by the constitution.
He was further supported by national Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula who insisted on creation of national unity.
Wetangula said that leaders should unite people and not divide them due to political interests.
This sentiments followed after deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ask all those leaders who disagree with him to come out publicly without hiding.
“Kenya is an indivisible state;our unity is our strength.Greed and aggrandizement will not divide us .We are beyond blackmail, threat, and the intimidation of personality cults and worship,”Ichungw’a stated.
Other ideologies that has led to this controversy is based on the “One Man ,One Vote ,One Shilling” that has erupted debates leading to different opinions from leaders.
