Man sentenced for defiling his daughter

A 48- year- old man who repeatedly defiled his 12- year- old daughter has been sentenced to 20 years in jail by Lamu Law Court.

According to the Office of Directorate of public Prosecution (ODPP) John Mumeo Bonea commited both offences severally between 2020 and 26 the August 2022 in Ndeu village Within Lamu Central Sub- county.

In his ruling,Lamu Principal Magistrate Martin Wachira stated that the evidence presented and the prosecution arguments established the accused’s culpability in the crime.

However,the prosecution through Rosemary Karanja,presented 5 witnesses to prove it’s case and guide the court in convicting sentencing the accused.

Therefore,Wachira observed that the minor suffered alifetime mental and psychological trauma following the awful act by her father.

The ODPP said that the accused and his wife had separated leaving the minor in the care of her grandmother,who would frequently send her to her father’s house to collect food items.

Afterwards the girl’s grandmother died and she had to be taken care of by her aunt.

This time the girl opened up about what was happening in her father’s house.

The aunt took her to the Mpeketoni sub-county children’s office, which referred the matter to area police before it was transferred to the Hindi police station, where the incident occurred.
