The ongoing heavy rains have raised concern on various health risks that need immediate attention.
Speaking today, Principal secretary for Public Health Ms Mary Muthoni has urged citizens to remain vigilant while taking necessary pre cautions to protect themselves and their Communities.
Ps Muthoni in his remarks urged people to be careful while crossing rivers that are full.
“During heavy rains ,rivers can quicky become treacherous and pose a significant risk to individuals attempting to cross them,” Muthoni noted.
She therefore advices against taking such risky actions and encourages people to seek alternative routes or wait until the water levels subside.
Ps emphasizes on proper sanitation where people are required to handwash so that to prevent themselves from diseases.
Additionally, reiterates the need to proper disposal to avoid contamination and the provision of clean drinking water to prevent water borne diseases.
She however outlined a Comprehensive response plan in collaboration with county governments and partners.
” This plan aim to address the issues faced by health care facilities, implement preventive measures and safeguard public health,” she stated.
This comes when the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has stated that there is no caution money coming from the national government.
He thus ask the county government to use their emergency funds to help solve the flooded areas and people leaving there.
