Multi-Agency Team Busts Counterfeit Drink Syndicate in Kirigiti,Kiambu County.
In a joint operation conducted today, officers from the DCI Headquarters- Economic and Commercial Crimes Unit and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) have successfully raided a residential house in Kirigiti, Kiambu County.
Their efforts led to the recovery of a significant haul of counterfeit drinks and related materials.
The team seized a total of 3,800 bottles of counterfeit alcoholic beverages, including Chrome gin, Kibao gin, Aquila gin, and Trace gin.
Among others items discovered included 24,000 pieces of counterfeit KRA stamps, 260 liters of ethanol, 3 sacks of assorted bottle caps, and 3,440 empty bottles.
However, the value of the illicit recoveries is estimated at sh 7,836,500.
DCI said the operation has also resulted in a VAT loss of sh 1,253,840 and an exercise duty loss of sh 2,774,551.49.
The recovered goods have been transported to a KRA Warehouse, pending further legal procedures.
Detectives have launched a manhunt for the suspect involved, who is currently at large.
