Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has expressed disappointment after being excluded from the list of national honors.
He claimed that President William Ruto was responsible for denying him this opportunity.
“I respect Ruto’s decision denying me the national honours I had been nominated for,” he said in an X account.
Despite this, Senator Sifuna stated that he respects the President’s decision and congratulated those who were recognized.
Sifuna thanked Parliament for the prior nomination. “Congratulations to all those who made it to the list. Happy Jamhuri Day.”
Therefore,President Willam Ruto awarded various Kenyans in different categories, including Cabinet Secretaries, Members of Parliament, Senators, Governors, Athletes, Professors, Artists, and Principal Secretaries.
“In recognition of distinguished and outstanding services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities, I confer awards and honours to the following persons,” Ruto said.
The awards were given based on the advice of the National Honors and Awards Committee in the President’s office.
Senator Sifuna’s exclusion from the list has raised some controversy.
Among other notable leaders who were recognized, such as Gladys Wanga, Opiyo Wandayi, and Stewart Madzayo, who were among the notable Azimio La Umoja Leaders.
