A 51- year- old police officer was yesterday sermon to answer a case in the murder of a 16- year- old high school student Tony Katana in Mombasa , eight years ago.
Justice Anne Ong’injo in her rule stated that the prosecution through Counsel Ngiri Wangui established it’s case against Sergeant John Otieno beyond any reasonable doubt.
In her ruling, Ong’injo said that 19 prosecution witnesses provided reliable and collaborative evidence to help find Otieno with a case to answer for the murder of Tony Katana.
However,the judge ruled that the witness’ testimonies were supported by exhibits that prove the offence of murder against the accused.
The Office of the director of Public Prosecution says that the accused is alleged to have killed Havard form two student on the 13th day of August 2016.
This happened at Uwanja wa Mbuzi area within Kongowea location within Mombasa County.
The hearing for the defendant will commence on 5th February 2024.
