Opposition leader Raila Odinga has demanded that the Kenya Kwanza administration take immediate action to resettle the victims of the tragic Embakasi explosion.
Speaking at the scene of the incident, Odinga urged the government to allocate affordable housing units to those who lost their homes.
He further emphasized the need for each affected family to receive compensation of Ksh.500,000 to help them rebuild their lives after the devastating fire incident.
“We want every family here given KSh 500,000.that is what will enable them to begin a new life.I want to tell president Ruto to address this issue and ensure every family gets 500,000,”Raila said.
Expressing his concern, Odinga criticized the authorities for allowing a gas plant to operate in a residential area.
Consequently,He pointed out that negligence on the part of those responsible puts innocent lives at risk.
Odinga highlighted the difference that his hypothetical Azimio government would have made in preventing such disasters.
“People are sleeping on their jobs while the lives of Kenyans are in danger. If it was the Azimio government in place right now things would be very different,”Raila stated.
Furthermore, Odinga expressed doubt about the ongoing investigations into the explosion.
He voiced his concern that the owner of the illegal gas plant might evade punishment, further undermining the justice system.

Four individuals, including three officials from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and the owner of the illegal gas plant, have been arrested.
