Love, a beautiful thing that should be cherished, respected, and shared, can sometimes blind us to the truth.
Meet Dessy, a 27-year-old woman who believed in the power of love without engaging in intimacy or sexual activities before marriage.
Dessy tells me that she got married to Daniel while she was 24 years before things turned around realizing that what seemed to greater was not Gold.
Dessy’s love story began when she met Daniel, her now Ex-husband, and they dated for three years.
At the age of 24, she walked down the aisle, believing that she had found her soulmate.
“I prayed for this marriage because I truly loved him,” Dessy reveals.
Dessy further says that her husband loved her so much and he sacrificed a lot for her happiness when they were dating.
Daniel seemed like the perfect match for Dessy.He had attributes of being a church guy.
Dessy says that she prayed so hard for a good, fearing man.
On their wedding night, Dessy eagerly awaited the intimate connection with her new husband.
“On the night of our wedding, I was all ready for my husband to touch me,” Dessy notes.
However, her excitement quickly turned to shock when she discovered Daniel watching pornography.
“I went closer to his position and he was watching porn,” Dessy explains.
Instead of confronting him, Dessy chose to approach it with humor, reminding him that he had a real person waiting for him.
“I jokingly told him that he has a real person waiting for him and he is watching unreal people,” Dessy recalls.
But when she asked him why he married her, his response shattered her heart.
‘So the world won’t question his sexuality,’ Dessy narrates.
To make matters worse, Daniel suggested that Dessy use toys for her own pleasure or find another man to satisfy her needs.
“One day he went out and bought me toys to use for myself whenever I need someone inside me… or… I can go outside and get it from one particular guy,” she recounts.
Shockingly, he even provided guidelines for her encounters, insisting that she never spend the night at the other man’s place and that she obtain his health report.
“My husband suggested I never sleep over at any guy’s place and I must know the person’s health report,” Dessy adds.
Feeling betrayed and hurt, Dessy made the difficult decision to leave Daniel and seek solace in another man.
“I told him I will get a guy and he agreed to it without thinking twice,” she adds.
Little did she know that her journey to find fulfillment would take another painful turn.
She entered into a relationship with another man, only to discover after five months that he had a hidden family living in the village.
“So one morning he woke me up that his wife and kids are coming to stay with him and there is no way I will stay with them… My heart was broken at that moment,” Dessy says.
However, Dessy had no choice but to leave once again.
She questioned why these hardships had befallen her, seeking answers from a higher power.
“I questioned God why me and why it happened to me,” Dessy reveals.
Despite the heartache she endured, Dessy remains hopeful that one day she will find the love and happiness she truly deserves.
