Violent robber Arrested as police seize firearm

Police from  Laare Police Station,Meru county successfully rescued a suspected member of a notorious gang involved in a spate of carjacking and robbery incidences.

Benson Muriithi, 25, was saved from a mob injustice incident that took place on the night of May 29, 2024, at KK Etama Area.

During the operation, the authorities made a significant discovery of firearm.

“Police recovered one AK-47 rifle and an empty magazine at the homestead of another gang member, while another suspect, Agnes Kanana, was also apprehended to assist in the investigation,”read the police statement.

The police recovered an AK-47 rifle and an empty magazine, further solidifying the connection between the gang and their criminal activities.

In addition, another suspect, Agnes Kanana, was apprehended to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The police are urging members of the public to play an active role in maintaining peace and security.

They are encouraged to continue sharing any information they may have at their local police stations.

In a separate incident, the police have made a  move in their fight against violent robberies in Laikipia.

A prime suspect, believed to be responsible for a series of these heinous crimes, has been apprehended.

Renkel Lentaam, a 46-year-old individual, was captured after days of relentless surveillance.

Upon interrogation

Lentaam confessed to being in possession of an AK47 rifle, the very weapon believed to have been used in the violent robberies.

Building on this crucial information, the police, assisted by their GSU counterparts from the Arjijo Operation Camp, proceeded to the Makurian location within the Mukogodo forest.

Therefore,they discovered the illegal firearm and 53 rounds of live ammunition concealed inside a modified tree trunk.

“Augmented by their GSU counterparts from Arjijo Operation Camp, the crime busters proceeded to Makurian location inside Mukogodo forest, where the suspect had hidden the illegal firearm and 53 rounds of live ammunition inside a modified tree trunk,”read part of police report.

The evidence was promptly seized, documented, and forwarded to the National Forensic Laboratory for ballistic examination.

While the investigation continues

The police are actively pursuing any suspected accomplices who may be involved in these violent robberies.

The collaborative efforts between different law enforcement agencies remain relentless in their pursuit of justice and the safety of the community.
